WATERFALLS, HOTSPRINGS & GLACIER
Dates:
If you participate in one of the projects you have the possibility to sign up for this excursion. This will take place on one of the days during the project. Your leaders can answer all your questions and will take care to plan it in the schedule.
What you will visit:
1 . Hraunfossar waterfall
Firstly you will see the great Hraunfossar, a stunning series of waterfalls formed by several rivers running a distance of about 900m across the Hallmundarhraun lava field, created a thousand years ago by a volcano erupting under the nearby Langjokull glacier.
2. Deildartunguhver
Known as the most powerful hot spring in Europe. It produces more than 180 liters of boiling hot water per second! You can feel the fierce power of Mother Nature as you walk safely on boardwalks through billowing clouds of steam around the bubbling hot springs, or just see them from the viewing platform.
3. Into the glacier
Join Into the Glacier classic tour from Husafell for an adventure that will lead you to the untouched beauty and raw nature of Langjokull, Iceland’s second-largest glacier. Enjoy the opportunity of a lifetime as we journey up the white slopes and go deep inside the man-made ice tunnels leading to the blue heart of the glacier.
We will ride in modified glacier vehicles specially made to explore the glacier environment and enjoy the view as we drive on top of the ice cap. Our experienced guides will lead the way and make sure that everyone is both enjoying themselves and learning the basics of glacier knowledge.
Price of the excursion:
For this excursion, we ask an extra fee of 210 euro. This is to pay for the fuel, driver, parking, etc.
Nice to know:
Iceland is a place where the weather can change every 5 minutes.
- Hiking boots are recommended because the weather can change very fast it’s possible it’s muddy in some places.
- Bring a raincoat it can be windy and cold at the waterfall.
- In case of heavy rain or strong wind, the places of interest can be reduced. (The decision is up to the driver’s responsibility.)
